Achiever 300 - Re-installing the original software for systems with a Jazz sound card

Question:
How do I re-install the original software in my Ambra 300 computer with the JAZZ sound card?

Answer:
Follow the steps below.

*** ATTENTION ***

If you follow the steps below, you will lose all your data and program files. The hard drive will no longer contain any personal information. If you have important files you wish to keep, please save them before going any further.

For this operation you will need :
The set of DOS disks
The set of Windows disks
The multimedia recovery disk
The JAZZ driver diskette

For DOS:

1. Insert the DOS install disk number one and start the computer.
3. When DOS asks if you wish to install, answer NO or press the function key F3 to exit the installation.
5. If the install prompts you again you can press F3 again.
7. At the A:\> prompt, type the word "FDISK" and press Enter.
9. Choose option 3 and press Enter.
11. Choose option 1, then press Enter.
13. When you see the warning just press the Enter key.
15. It will then ask you for the volume label, it should be written under where it says VOLUME LABEL.
17. Enter the volume label and then press Enter.
19. When it asks you if you are sure, press Y and then press Enter.
21. Press the Escape key (Esc) to continue.
23. Choose option 1 and press Enter.
25. From the second menu choose option 1 and then press Enter.
27. When it asks you if you wish to use the maximum available space answer YES and press Enter.
29. Restart the computer.
31. At the A:\> prompt type "FORMAT C:" and press Enter.
33. When asked for a volume label just press Enter.
35. At this point you will be at the A:\> prompt again.
37. Type in "SETUP" and press Enter.
39. Whatever question that DOS asks during the install, just press Enter to accept the defaults.
41. When done just restart the computer.

For Windows:

1. At the C:\> prompt, insert the windows setup disk number one.
3. Type in "A:\SETUP" and press Enter.
5. Choose the Express installation and press Enter.
7. When prompted Enter your name and company (the company is optional) then press Enter.
9. Complete the installation of windows, remove the last disk and the restart the computer.

For the CD ROM:

1. When back at the C:\> prompt, insert the Multimedia recovery disk.
3. Type "A:" and press Enter.
5. Then type "CDINST" and press Enter.
7. When the files have copied, you will be back at the C:\> prompt.
9. Type "A:" and press Enter.
11. Then type in "FINALCFG" and press Enter.
13. When the files have copied, you will be back at the C:\> prompt.
15. Remove the diskette and restart the computer.
17. When the computer is restarted you will automatically start into windows.

For the sound:

1. Exit from Windows and go to DOS.
3. Insert the JAZZ driver diskette.
5. Type "A:" and press Enter.
7. From the A:\> prompt, type "INSTALL" and press Enter.
9. Highlight Install software and setup hardware, then press Enter.
11. Install the software into the C:\JAZZ directory.
13. If it asks you if you have Windows 3.1 on the system, press the Y key.
15. When it asks for the windows directory just press Enter.
17. At the next window, highlight Accept the configuration shown above and press Enter.
19. Then press F3 to exit the installation.
21. Remove the diskette.
23. Restart the computer and you are done.
